Windsor Happy School has cared for children for more than two decades. We cater to a mixture of High Reach Learning and Creative Curricula. We have partnered with Sapling Montessori to provide a Montessori curriculum, and we will transition to it starting in June 2020 to promote well-rounded growth. Alpana Nirgudkar, a Montessori-Certified teacher and Program Coordinator, will lead this effort. She brings more than 12 years of teaching the Montessori curriculum.
In the rooms, that means children work with hands-on materials at their own pace. Teachers sit at eye level and follow each child's interest rather than rushing a group through one activity. Lessons happen in small groups or one on one, so a child who is ready for more gets more, and a child who needs another try gets another try. The day moves between focused work, outdoor time, meals and rest.
We are licensed by the State of New Jersey, and we have provided child care services for more than two decades. Our staff is composed of cheerful caregivers and teachers who are certified and state-licensed to perform their respective tasks. We cater to a mixture of High Reach Learning and Creative Curricula. Starting in June 2020, we will transition to a Montessori curriculum in order to promote well-rounded growth in our students.

What you notice in practice
Teachers sit at eye level with children. They watch for what a child is ready for and offer the next material when the child shows interest. Lessons happen in small groups or one on one. A teacher might show a child how to pour water, then step back and let them try. Children choose work from open shelves and return it when they are done.
Rooms are set up with low shelves, child-sized tables and materials a child can reach and carry. Work is arranged from simple to complex, so children build on what they already know. The day has long stretches for focused work, then outdoor time, meals and rest. Teachers keep the pace steady and let children finish what they start before moving on.
How we work with families
At pickup, a teacher will tell you what your child worked on, who they played with, and how they ate and napped. If you have a question about your child's day, ask the teacher at the door or set a time to talk. There is a Parents Corner on our site for updates and announcements. Small questions get answered quickly, and bigger ones get a conversation.
The first weeks are a gradual settling-in. You and your child visit before the first day, meet the teachers, and see the room. We ask you what soothes your child, what they eat, and how they sleep. Then we start with shorter days and build up. You can call to check in. Every child settles at their own pace, and we follow yours.
